Non-Toxic Braiding Hair Brands: Top 3 Brands

Published on 23 March 2025 at 09:00

Last week we talked about the different braiding hair brands that are considered toxic. This week I wanted to tell you guys about alternative hair brands that claim they are toxic-free, hypoallergenic, and even plant-based. I spent all week researching brands that the girlies were talking about on TikTok. I found a few and even my sister sent me one that she had seen.

Now these brands are not at all cheap. Some of them may be a bit pricey for some people’s taste and that’s okay. I am still researching every day, and I will give updates as they come. Now let’s get into these brands!

Top 3 Non-Toxic Braiding Hair Brands

  1. DOSSO BEAUTY

Coming in at number one is Dosso Beauty, a black-owned company founded in 2018 by Kadidja Dosso. She created this company after she experienced allergic reactions to traditional braiding hair (read Toxic Braiding Hair: The 10 Toxic Brands to learn more about this topic). Her mission is to create high-quality and safe products for those with sensitive scalps and skin. I put Dosso at the number one spot because while researching I found that they were the only company that stated that they were clinically tested.

  1. PRECISION HAIR COMPANY

Precision Hair is also black-owned and specializes in producing chemical-free, anti-itch braiding hair. The founder, Sha’Ron, wanted to create a lightweight product that felt natural and easy to work with. Precision comes in at number two because they are the cheapest on the list and they have more vibrant colors.

  1. REBUNDLE.CO

A sustainable, plant-based hair extension company, where they make hair from banana fibers. This black-owned company started in 2021 and was founded by Ciara Imani May. Rebundle is said to offer lightweight and comfortable biodegradable products.

All these brands claim to be chemical-free, hypoallergenic, and biodegradable and from the reviews, they do not disappoint as brands. Now yes, the brands are a little pricey for just a pack of hair, however, sometimes you must spend a little money to get exactly what you want. I will continue to look for brands that are on the cheaper side but know that with the hair being cheaper the company could be saying that it is chemical-free for the sale.

If you are a customer and your braider does not offer hair it is good to know what to look for and what not to look for. As a braider, I encourage you to study different brands and try them out on yourself first. This will help you get a better idea of what your clients will go through. However, do remember that every client is different and what works for one might not work for others. Knowing this can help grow your business.
