To start off Stylist Shoutouts, it only seemed befitting to recognize the stylist in my life who started all of this! Mrs. Vivian Herndon!!!!
Vivian started her career with the vision to one day work for herself. Her vision came true when she opened her very own salon in Sedalia, Missouri named Viv's Place. Here she grew her business and was eventually able to retire and spend quality time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Growing up with a trailblazer in the hair industry as your Great- Grandmother is amazing. Especially because I learned so much about hair at such a young age.
I remember spending time in Sedalia with her and being in the salon she had setup in her garage. I would watch her roll her roller sets and relaxers were really big during that time, so I smelled a ton of those.
From my memories she never forced any of us to do hair. If we wanted to learn, she was willing to teach us. So, when I decided to take this journey in becoming a stylist, I thought about how excited she would have been.
NO scratch that how excited she is!
Because legends live forever, and she is definitely a legend to me and so many more that had the experience of learning from her.
So, let's take this time to honor my favorite person and one of my top inspirations in creating and building a brand that she will be proud of.
